Scripture To Read: Psalm Chapter 1 “And he will be like a tree firmly planted
[and fed] by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season;
Its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does,
he prospers [and comes to maturity].”
Psalm 1:3 AMP
Those were the words that rang out
during the triumphant entrance Jesus
made on a Donkey into Jerusalem.
What a week was spread out before Him.
Highest highs of His career on earth.
But Also the Lowest of Lows.
All made possible because like the amazing Palm,
Jesus was rooted in The Father.
Are your rooted and Grounded?
We hear many examples of the “mighty Oak” tree, but I want
us to look to the palm. Most people see it and think of sandy
beaches, vacations, exotic locations and such. But it should
remind us of much more.
A palm tree is an interesting group of trees. David referenced
it because he knew them well. They grow in abundance
throughout much of Israel and can even survive in an oasis
in the middle of the desert. The questions is how?
A few Facts:
There are about 2600 varieties. They produce fruits and nuts
They can be used for building materials
They are resilient. They can survive Hurricanes and Drought
They Thrive in Heat. They symbolized Victory, Peace, & Growth
...And that’s just some basics.
Be a Palm. In our series of Rooted in Jesus - Growing in God,
make sure you’re good growing ground and setting a firm
and immovable foundation like a palm.
You see Palm trees send roots down deep. Way deep. They
can easily be 20 feet down into the ground. Are you sending
roots down deep? Are you making sure that you truly know the
God your serve and are assured of His Goodness, Provision,
and most of all... His Love? That deep foundation makes you
immovable and able to be resilient!
Thriving in Heat. Heat. The Pressures of Satan. Some tests and
trials I have been through were so hot and intense that you
had no doubt it was spawned from Hell. Those are growing
times. You see, heat helps a seed germinate and get out of
it’s shell. God will use what Satan sends fro evil to pop you out
of your shell so you can grow - Use it to your advantage!
Building Materials - can God count on you to build His Church?
Can He use you to help others to grow and mature? Can He
trust you to be the palm that provides nourishment to others>
Can he trust you to help feed others and water them in their
seasons of heat or drought?
When Christ Rode in and saw the waving Palms, I am certain
He must had smiled, knowing that in years too come, people
would finally see that simple Palm, Us Christians, Are what will
usher His second coming in. Can He count on you?
